Yogi Vemana University is a newly established University in Kadapa district with West Campus at Idupulapaya. Earlier, it was part of Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. It is named after a fantastic thinker, philosopher, and social reformer Yogi Vemana, essentially the most celebrated Telugu poet and sage of all time.

Late Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, the previous Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh donated his 312 acres of land to construct West Campus. A modern concept school, which known as 21st Century Gurukul. The University is identified as after Yogi Vemana who is known for his philosophical teachings and working towards Achala Paripurna Raja Yoga.

It was upgraded as Yogi Vemana University by the Government of Andhra Pradesh via an Act of A.P. Legislative Meeting on 9th March 2006. It is positioned at Mittamedipalli village and Panchayat about 15 km from the Kadapa on the Kadapa-Pulivendla road. The campus is unfold over 450 acres of land.

Along with the above the University is offered a new course in “Metallurgical Engineering ” from the ensuing academic year.
